Geraldton Concrete Cell Refurbishment x 2
In 2024, Promako was engaged to undertake a major refurbishment of two vertical Concrete Cell Storages in the Geraldton Port Precinct. The purpose of the refurbishment was to extend the storages operational life by an additional 25 years and ensuring continued high-performance service.
The comprehensive scope of works included:
- Design and installation of circular swing stage scaffolding system for access.
- High-volume washdown and thorough surface preparation
- Removal of the existing seal using high-pressure water blasting
- Concrete inspections and associated repairs
- Application of specialised coatings to enable controlled atmosphere fumigation
Practical Completion was achieved in November 2024, with a half-life pressure test successfully conducted to verify the integrity of the new seal and confirm that the structure is safe and effective for fumigation.
