Geraldton Bulk Storage Refurbishment
In 2024, Promako was engaged to undertake a major refurbishment of a bulk storage facility in the Geraldton Port Precinct. The purpose of the refurbishment was to extend the storages operational life by an additional 25 years and ensuring continued high-performance service.
The comprehensive scope of works included:
- Custom design and installation of Height Safety Access System
- Design and installation of large scaffolding structures for access.
- High-volume washdown and thorough surface preparation
- Removal of the existing seal using high-pressure water blasting
- Complete removal and replacement of cladding
- Structural repairs to critical areas including purlin and fire escape replacement
- Application of specialised coatings to enable controlled atmosphere fumigation
- Installation of new storage recirculation system and fan dampers
- Asphalt pavement reinstatement to external perimeter
Practical Completion was achieved in October 2024, with a half-life pressure test successfully conducted to verify the integrity of the new seal and confirm that the structure is safe and effective for fumigation.
